Weird Words

Who’s Rymor, What’s a Lesamy and Why Flubbage?

If you’re new to my blog first of all welcome! It’s nice to have you here. You may have noticed I have a collection of strange words as tags, categories and used in titles. It’s a silly affectation really but this is my blog, if I can’t be affected here…

Anyway here’s the guide to Paul’s Weird Words:

Flubbage

When I re-re-re-launched my blog I said I’d try to concentrate on stuff people might want to read rather than what I wanted to say – the two not necessarily being the same. So personal musings, navel-gazing and inane thought-fluff got relegated to a category called “Flubbage” of which I allow myself only infrequent posts.

I thought I’d made the word up but according to the internet not so. Here’s the post that explains. (if you care – it’s flubbage, you’re allowed not to)

Lesamy

This was my second blog project, the first being my Buffy Re-Watch Project. Lesamy is a fancy word for losing weight (Lesamy=Les-o-me=Less of me, geddit?). On Sep 15th 2008 I started a regime of diet and exercise which I set out on this blog. Every week I weigh myself and give an update on how much I’ve lost along with some thoughts on the process. I thought that by now (as of 4-dec-2008) I’d be reduced to just giving the stats having talked about everything you possibly could but I seem to still find things to say.

I suppose you could argue that Lesamy is Flubbage but as its purpose is to achieve something, may conceivably help encourage someone else, I don’t see it as self-indulgent as Flubbage.

Rymor

Rymor=”Wri-More“=”Write More” (I know I should quit with the bad puns). It’s a project to encourage myself to be more consistent and disciplined about writing. It essentially boils down to “write for 45mins a day every day and record your progress”.  I may also post small extracts of my work here.

Initial post is here.

Update 6-May-2009: Rymor is currently on pause. I’m devoting my time and energies to Lesamy and 25 Books instead.

And if I’m ever unwise enough to take on extra projects/make up silly words I’ll add them here.
